The purpose of FA is to provide a formal networking platform for faculty members to foster their personal and professional growth. The FA will serve as the voice to represent and advocate for its members, uphold academic freedom, fairness, transparency and equality for all members. FA will increase the awareness of issues specific to the faculty community.

Message from the President, Faculty Association IIT Madras

The Faculty Association (FA) exists to provide a formal platform for networking and collaboration among faculty members, fostering both personal and professional growth. It serves as a unified voice to represent and advocate for faculty interests, while upholding the core values of academic freedom, fairness, transparency, and equality. The FA also plays a vital role in increasing awareness of issues that are unique to the faculty community at IIT Madras.

It is my privilege to serve as the President of the Faculty Association for the 2025–2028 term. I am committed to strengthening the collective faculty voice on matters related to workplace environment, well-being, and compensation. By drawing on our shared experience, leadership, and collegial spirit at IIT Madras, I hope to work alongside you to ensure that our institution remains a supportive, equitable, and fulfilling place to teach, research, and serve.

Mission

  • Advance and safeguard the rights and welfare of IITM faculty members
  • Represent the personal & professional interests of all faculty
  • Uphold academic freedom, fairness, transparency, and equality for all members
  • Act as a negotiating unit to regulate relations between faculty and the institute
  • Increase awareness to ensure the protection of individual rights

Vision

  • To become the voice of faculty, a source of information, and function as support group for faculty members
  • To advance the cause and rights of faculty members with the institute administration and with the MoE (through proper channels)
  • To interact and seek consensus among FA members of other IITs in matters related to faculty
